Bro. George Washington was the first American President to be sworn in on the historic 1767 King James Bible owned by St.John's Lodge No. l of New York. Since then four other Presidents have taken their Presidential oath on the St.John's Bible, one of which, like Bro. George Washington, was a Mason. They were Jimmy Carter, Dwight D. Eisenhower, George H. Bush, the new President's father, and Bro. Warren G. Harding. As we go to press George W. Bush is scheduled to be sworn in using the same bible, just as his father did 12 years earlier. .
